The story
Tinta y Cafe in Coral Gables, Miami, is a neighborhood cafe that elevates the classic South Florida ventanita experience. Established in 2005 by two Cuban-born, Miami-raised siblings, the focus is on crafting exceptional Cuban coffee and freshly made sandwiches. The restaurant’s commitment to quality and value has earned it a Michelin Bib Gourmand award.
The atmosphere is intentionally analog. Mid-century decor and a curated playlist create a setting that feels like a visit to your tía’s house. Tinta y Cafe promotes the “Art of Conversation,” asking guests to put down their phones and laptops and engage with their surroundings. It is a space designed for unhurried connection over a cafecito.
The menu is built around Cuban coffee traditions: cafecito, cortadito, café con leche, and the indulgent El Pecado made with condensed and evaporated milk. The kitchen turns out a lineup of sandwiches, including the namesake Tinta Y Café with pork, prosciutto, manchego, and caramelized onions, and the Madurito with sweet plantain, pork, and garlic aioli. Homemade croquetas are a signature, and the pastelera section offers pastelitos, empanadas, and tequeños.
