The story
For more than four decades, Chez TJ has occupied one of the most historic and charming Victorian homes in downtown Mountain View. It is a place where refined, seasonal tasting menus and warm hospitality have long defined the evening. As one of the first restaurants in the Bay Area to earn a Michelin star, Chez TJ continues to maintain that legacy of excellence, and it is currently recognized in the Michelin guide.
The daily tasting menu is personally tailored by executive chef Mo Bejar, who draws inspiration from seasonal produce to craft a unique interpretation of contemporary French cuisine. The kitchen follows a farm-to-table philosophy, celebrating creativity and the best ingredients of each season. The restaurant's small, intimate atmosphere allows the staff to offer each guest a personal, high-quality experience. With advance notice, the team can accommodate most dietary restrictions and takes particular pride in its vegetarian, pescatarian, and vegan menus.
Dining at Chez TJ takes place within the cozy interior dining rooms of the Victorian house or on the heated garden patio. The setting is romantic and intimate, well-suited for anniversaries, birthdays, date nights, or business meals. An extensive wine list complements the tasting menu, and private dining is available for special events.
