The story
Since opening its doors in 2020, St. Vito Focacceria has brought a distinctive slice of Sicily to Nashville. The restaurant focuses on sfincione, a traditional Sicilian-style pizza that stands apart from its Neapolitan cousin. It is light, crispy, and built on a naturally leavened sourdough starter that has been alive for over a decade, imparting deep, complex flavors to every bite. The dough undergoes up to three days of cold fermentation before being baked fresh each morning.
At the heart of the menu are four core sfincione, served whole (a 10x14-inch pie that feeds 6-8) or by the section. Each one is studded with fontina cheese and finished with pecorino and seasoned breadcrumbs. Choices include the Classic Vito with milled tomato and oregano, the Potato with potato cream and lemon, Pepperoni with ezzo pepperoni and agrodolce, and the Spicy Tomato & Burrata featuring giardiniera and calabrian chili oil. While the pizza styles remain constant, the plates change almost daily, driven by what is available from local farms. Recent offerings have included gnocchi with Nonna-style tomato marinara, a Caesar with anchovy dressing, and a beef Milanese with preserved peppers.
The restaurant’s dedication to quality and value has been recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that highlights delicious food at a reasonable price. It is a fitting nod to a kitchen that makes everything in-house from scratch and focuses on generously flavored, ingredient-driven cooking.
The space on Mansion Street is intimate and fills quickly. Walk-ins are welcome, and reservations are released 90 days in advance via OpenTable. For larger gatherings, St. Vito offers private dining and catering options. Guests may also bring their own bottle of wine for a corkage fee, complementing the restaurant’s constantly rotating selection of wine, spirits, and beer.
