The story
Since 1979, Fogo de Chão has kept the flames of the churrasco tradition burning. The Brooklyn location, at 445 Albee Square West, brings this authentic Brazilian steakhouse experience to New York City. The restaurant’s story begins in the mountainous countryside of Rio Grande do Sul, where the founding brothers grew up on a traditional farm, learning the art of cooking over an open fire. This heritage is the backbone of every meal served today.
The experience centers on the churrasco — a grilling technique where gaucho chefs expertly roast a variety of meats on skewers over direct heat. Guests can sample a remarkable array of cuts, from the signature Picanha (prime top sirloin, lightly seasoned with rock salt) to the Bone-in Ribeye Ancho and the succulent, slow-grilled Beef Ribs (Costela). The menu also features enhancements like a 42-day Dry-Aged Tomahawk Ancho and premium Wagyu cuts. The culinary philosophy is one of restraint: quality beef is allowed to cook slowly with subtle seasoning, letting natural flavors mature.
Alongside the fire-roasted proteins, the seasonal Market Table offers a fresh and vibrant counterpoint. The full churrasco experience is complemented by an award-winning wine list, recognized with a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025. The bar, Bar Fogo, introduces guests to Brazilian-inspired small plates and cocktails. For those who prefer to dine at home, the restaurant offers delivery, takeaway, and catering services, and can accommodate large groups and private parties.
