The story

Miss Ada: Israeli-Mediterranean in Brooklyn's Fort Greene (Bib Gourmand)

Chef and Origins

Miss Ada is an inviting neighborhood restaurant in the heart of Brooklyn’s Fort Greene. Israeli-born Chef/Owner Tomer Blechman uses local, seasonal ingredients to create a unique twist on modern Mediterranean cuisine. The name comes from the Hebrew word for restaurant, misada – rooted in seuda, which means coming together around the dinner table with family and friends. That spirit of gathering defines the place.

The Space and Atmosphere

Inside, the restaurant feels warm and relaxed, with a backyard garden that supplies fresh herbs in warmer months. The sidewalk café and covered back patio offer outdoor dining when weather permits. Most of the dining room is reservable; the bar stays open for walk-ins.

Acknowledged for Value

Miss Ada holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that recognizes good quality cooking at accessible prices. The recognition fits naturally: the kitchen balances bold Middle Eastern and Israeli flavors with restraint, letting ingredients speak.

What to Eat

Dinner begins with mezze like whipped ricotta with brown butter and sage, or sweet potato hummus. The hummus masabaha section is a highlight – choose lamb shawarma with amba and harissa, or chicken shawarma. Skewers include dry-aged beef kofta with pine nuts and miso tahini, and a whole branzino for the table. Vegetables are not afterthoughts: crispy cauliflower with parsley and silan, and a market salad that changes daily.

Brunch brings its own energy: sabich (eggplant, amba, egg), shakshuka with goat cheese, and savory pastries like malawach pizza with harissa and three cheeses. Drinks range from a Harissa Bloody Mary to a Lavender Old Fashioned.

A Neighborhood Anchor

Miss Ada is the kind of place where you can drop in for a quick meal at the bar or settle in for a long dinner with friends. The cooking stays true to its roots while feeling fresh and current – exactly the sort of thoughtful, unfussy dining that makes Brooklyn’s food scene so compelling.
