The story
On the Lower East Side, Sami & Susu is a restaurant and wine bar that draws from the many flavors of the Mediterranean, the energy of New York City, and a collection of family recipes. Co-founded by Amir Nathan and Jordan Anderson in June 2020, the restaurant began as a delivery and pickup service during the pandemic. The response from a loyal local clientele was strong enough that a brick-and-mortar location opened on Orchard Street in July 2021.
The menu is seasonal and fun, changing regularly throughout the year. Offerings range from small to large plates, built around Mediterranean influences. A small, knowledgeable staff is eager to share what they know about the food, wine, and culture behind each dish. The restaurant earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2022, a recognition for good quality, good value cooking that has been renewed through 2026.
The space itself is a neighborhood spot with a wine bar at its heart, serving dinner nightly. Whether you come for a weekday meal or a weekend evening, the atmosphere is welcoming and direct—a place where the cooking speaks for itself.
