The story
Owners and chefs Dave and Krystiana Rizo, born and raised in San Antonio, opened Yellow Rose in November 2020. The restaurant is a direct expression of their roots — a place where the food and drink are inspired by the flavors of home. Everything on the menu is made 100% from scratch, from the fresh flour tortillas filled with stewed beef in chili gravy to daily specials that take New York State produce and give it a distinctly Texan spin.
The energy here is personal and unpretentious. Dave runs the kitchen with an irreverent touch, while Krystiana is behind the bar, turning out margaritas that have earned their own reputation. The space itself — on Third Avenue in the East Village — feels like a genuine neighborhood spot, serving lunch on Fridays, brunch on weekends, and dinner every day.
This commitment to bold, honest Tex-Mex cooking earned Yellow Rose a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, a recognition for good quality, good value cooking. It's a fitting nod to a restaurant that puts flavor first and never overcomplicates things. Whether you're in for a plate of enchiladas, a bowl of chili, or just one of those damn good margaritas, Yellow Rose delivers the real thing.
