At 11600 Old Georgetown Road in North Bethesda, Fogo de Chão brings the centuries-old tradition of churrasco to the Maryland suburbs. The restaurant’s spirit is rooted in the mountainous landscapes of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The founding brothers grew up on a family farm in the Serra Gaucha, learning the churrasco techniques that would become the backbone of their life’s work. After training in Rio and São Paulo, they opened their first restaurant in Porto Alegre, a wood structure built on obsessive dedication to quality. That dedication earned a reputation among politicians and celebrities, eventually leading to the brand’s stateside debut in Dallas, Texas, in 1997. The North Bethesda location is part of a global expansion that now spans from Brazil to the UK and the Middle East, yet the core experience remains unchanged: the full churrasco experience, where the fire is kept ready for you.

The dining room balances rustic warmth with a refined energy. Guests begin at the Market Table, a fresh and vibrant spread of seasonal salads, vegetables, and artisan cheeses, before the gauchos begin their procession of fire-roasted cuts.
