The story
In Oakland’s historic Grand Lake District, Bardo Lounge operates as a neighborhood lounge and restaurant inspired by the comfort and camaraderie of a mid-century dinner party. The space borrows the celebration and elegance of old-school home entertaining, creating a setting where friends and neighbors gather for conversation, good food, and music. Guests can choose from dining table, bar top, or home bar seating for a dinner-party-style spread, or opt for couch seating to relax with cocktails and small bites.
The kitchen turns out a rotating menu of fresh, seasonal American supper-fare built on local and sustainably sourced meats, fish, and produce. Alongside the food, the bar serves classics-inspired cocktails that complement the relaxed yet refined atmosphere. Reservations are accepted for all seating, including the bar and lounge, making it easy to plan an evening.
Bardo has been recommended by the Michelin Guide from 2021 through 2024, a recognition the team credits to their commitment to quality food, drinks, and genuine hospitality.
