The story
Fogo de Chão brings the fire of Southern Brazil to Oklahoma City. Since 1979, the restaurant has been dedicated to the culinary art of churrasco — the slow, wood-fire roasting of meats on skewers, carved tableside by gaucho chefs. The story begins in the mountainous countryside of Rio Grande do Sul, where the founding brothers learned the craft on their family farm. That heritage is alive today at the Pennsylvania Avenue location, where the open flames and sizzling cuts recall the original restaurants in Porto Alegre and São Paulo.
Guests are welcomed by a vibrant Market Table — a curated selection of fresh salads, vegetables, and artisanal items — followed by a continuous parade of fire-roasted meats. Signature cuts include Picanha (prime top sirloin), Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), and the indulgent Wagyu New York Strip. Each is seasoned simply with rock salt to let the natural flavors shine. Complementing the meal is Bar Fogo, offering Brazilian-inspired cocktails and small plates.
Fogo de Chão’s commitment to excellence extends to its cellar. The Oklahoma City location has been awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025, reflecting a carefully curated list that features South American standouts and the restaurant's own Founders Tribute Wine Collection. Wines like the Jorjão Reserva Malbec and the Eulila Red Blend are chosen specifically to pair with the bold, savory flavors of churrasco.
Whether for a special occasion or a weeknight dinner, Fogo de Chão delivers an experience rooted in Brazilian warmth and time-honored technique.
