The story
Kai Asian Street Fare is the story of two brothers-in-law, Quan and Isra, who left their engineering careers to open a restaurant that reflects their heritage and passion for food. Quan, a self-taught cook originally from Vietnam, and Isra, who grew up in Thailand, Cyprus, and Israel, opened Kai in 2018 after a “YOLO moment” convinced them to bring something new to Orlando’s dining scene. Their approach is simple: don’t take shortcuts, make craveable food, and stay genuine.
The menu draws from Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, and beyond—a true Asian street fare experience. The restaurant has earned consistent recognition for its wings, winning the Orlando Sentinel Foodie Award for Best Wings five years running (2020–2024), and was named 2019 Ramen Rumble Champions. Kai has been featured in the Michelin Guide since 2023, a testament to the quality and consistency the team has built from the ground up.
The Winter Park location, on State Road 436, is a casual spot for dine-in or takeout, with a second outpost at the Food Factory Foodie Collective in Oviedo. Whether you’re a student from nearby Rollins College or UCF, or just looking for honest, flavorful Asian street food, Kai delivers on its promise: authentic fare with unrelenting passion.
