Since opening in 2013, Osteria Mattone has earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence every year. Operating Partner and Beverage Director Daniel Pernice curates the list, offering a thoughtful selection of Italian wines alongside international favorites. The award is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to pairing great food with equally great wine.

Weekly Traditions and Specials

Osteria Mattone keeps things lively with weekly events. Mattone Tuesday offers a $35 three-course menu that highlights house favorites. Pasta Casa Wednesday is an off-menu dinner featuring “red sauce joint” classics: garlic knots, baked lasagna, chicken parmigiana, and tiramisu. Sunday Brunch runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with Italian-inspired dishes like eggs alla carbonara, braised beef hash, and lemon-buttermilk pancakes. The Aperitivo Happy Hour takes place daily at the bar during the first two hours of service, with discounted signature pizzas, bites, and house wines.

The Team

Executive Chef Evan Churchill leads the kitchen, while sous chef Ryan Humphrey and dining room manager Maddy Judd round out the front-of-house leadership. Daniel Pernice, who has been with the restaurant since its opening, oversees both operations and the wine program.

The Menu

Diners can start with arancini alla ‘nduja, burrata with peach honey, or Neapolitan braised beef meatballs. Pastas range from tonnarelli cacio e pepe to agnolotti stuffed with braised short rib, and a 10-layer lasagna al pesto. Secondi include osso buco di agnello (braised lamb shank with saffron risotto) and vanilla-seared scallops. The pizza list features a classic Margherita and a hot honey-soppressata-circa Pizza Al Mattone. Desserts like cassata and caramel bread pudding round out the meal.
