Fort Oak sits on Fort Stockton Drive in San Diego’s Mission Hills, a restaurant that took over the showroom of a 1940s Ford dealership and turned it into something entirely its own. The space is defined by its Mid-Century-inspired main dining room with retractable windows, a U-shaped 23-seat bar built into the original circular room, and two patios that open to the sky. It’s a setting that feels both rooted in the neighborhood and distinctly modern — and one that earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction.

The kitchen focuses on American steakhouse fare, with a menu built around wood-fired cooking and seasonal ingredients. The bar program is equally considered, offering a long list of cocktails organized by style — from a house dirty martini called Chevelle with blue cheese filled olives, to spirit-free options like the Adventura with lemongrass and pandan. The wine list covers bubbles, whites, and reds from California, Austria, New Zealand, and France, and the beer selection includes local drafts from Pure Project and Societe Brewing.

Oyster Monday runs from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., and Happy Hour is served Wednesday through Sunday during the same window. Private dining is available across three spaces: the patio seats 40, the dining room holds 66, and a full buyout accommodates up to 200 standing.
