The story
At Soichi in San Diego, the omakase experience is built on a foundation of authentic Japanese techniques and the philosophy of Omotenashi—deep-rooted hospitality that engages all the senses. Chef Soichi personally crafts each meal, balancing texture, temperature, and taste with the finest seasonal ingredients from both land and sea. Sitting at the counter before him is a truly sensual experience, one that has earned the restaurant a Michelin Star for its high-quality cooking.
The menu changes daily, reflecting the freshest offerings available. Guests can choose from several omakase courses. The Full Omakase is a meticulously crafted journey through the chef’s exceptional skills. The Nigiri Omakase begins with four seasonal tasting dishes, followed by eleven pieces of sushi, a handroll, a light fish broth, and house-made ice cream in flavors like Green Tea or Roasted Sesame. For a lighter option, the Petite Omakase offers a well-balanced selection of four tasting dishes, six pieces of sushi, and dessert, with the flexibility to add a la carte items.
The atmosphere is intimate and authentic, designed to make each guest feel personally welcomed. Chef Soichi’s approach to Japanese cuisine is evident in every detail, from the use of premium nori from his hometown to the handcrafted monkfish liver with signature ponzu. Whether celebrating a milestone or savoring a quiet evening, Soichi delivers a refined, memorable dining experience in the heart of San Diego.
