The story
At Luna Mexican Kitchen on The Alameda, the philosophy is simple: “Eat like an ancestor.” The kitchen draws on methods thousands of years old, using clean ingredients and no shortcuts. It is a place where care for food, people, and community come together in every plate.
The menu showcases Mexican cuisine with a focus on brunch. Standouts include Horchata French Toast with piloncillo syrup and organic berries, and the NY Steak Con Huevos—grass-fed Niman Ranch steak with pasture-raised eggs, grilled nopal, and Rancho Gordo refried pinto beans. The Chilaquiles simmer handmade tortilla chips in tomatillo salsa, topped with crema, queso fresco, and avocado. For something lighter, the Yellowtail Crudo with citrus ponzu or the Ceviche de Camaron with wild caught shrimp are bright, fresh options.
Luna’s commitment to ingredient quality runs deep. The kitchen recently transitioned to a no seed oil kitchen, now cooking exclusively with avocado oil and fera fruit oil from Zero Acre. House-made dressings use olive oil, and the granola is prepared with coconut oil. Every oil is fruit-based.
The Michelin Guide awarded Luna a Bib Gourmand, recognizing good quality, good value cooking. The Guide noted: “Love for food is clear in every morsel that emerges from this kitchen.”
Luna Mexican Kitchen is local, unrefined, natural, and authentic—Mexican cuisine as it was meant to be.
