The story
Orchard City Kitchen was a concept dreamt up by Chef Jeffrey Stout over a decade ago. He wanted a place where people could eat less and taste more—sharing small plates made with quality ingredients, without the stuffiness of waitstaff in suits. That vision came to life in Campbell, just outside San Jose, and has since earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its good quality, good value cooking. The award fits naturally: this is a restaurant built on approachable excellence.
The kitchen, led by Executive Chef Michael Maydeck, turns out a menu that leans into fusion and international flavors while keeping things fresh and local. Start with the Triple B V2—candied bacon, rosemary-parmesan biscuits, and honey butter—or the Hamachi Tataki with butternut squash, orange, and serrano. The “steak & eggs” deviled egg with A5 wagyu and horseradish is a playful bite, while the Dungeness Crab Gougère with cheddar and aioli nods to French technique. Larger plates like the Truffled Game Hen with beurre blanc or the Côte De Berkshire Porc with winter squash purée show equal care.
The cocktail program is built on unique ingredients and a deep back bar of limited-edition bottles. Try the OCK Old Fashioned with bourbon and bitters duo, or the Mr. Brightside with tequila, cocci rosa, and pomegranate. Happy hour runs daily from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, and the full menu is available for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
The atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious—exactly as Chef Stout intended. With outdoor seating, a private dining room, and wheelchair access, it’s a place that invites you to settle in and share. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite at the bar or a long dinner with friends, Orchard City Kitchen delivers on its promise: quality food, no fuss.
