The story
Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen is the realization of Executive Chef Gabbi Patrick’s dedication to preserving the rich culinary heritage of Mexico. Since opening in 2006, the kitchen has focused on integrating modern gastronomy with indigenous and regional recipes. Chef Patrick’s approach is grounded in supporting local farms, sourcing quality seasonal ingredients, and drawing inspiration from her extensive travels throughout Mexico. The result is a menu that respects tradition while feeling fresh and current.
The restaurant’s old-world, hacienda-style ambiance sets the stage for a meal that balances warmth with refinement. With air conditioning, outdoor seating, and wheelchair access, the space welcomes a range of occasions. The Michelin Recommended recognition reflects the consistency and care found in every detail – from the house-made corn and flour tortillas to the careful composition of each plate.
The menu is rooted in classic Mexican cuisine but ventures into territory that feels personal and deliberate. Start with the birria quesadilla – braised beef cheek with Oaxaca cheese, escabeche, and tomatillo crudo – or the mole tostaditas, featuring shredded Jidori chicken, mole, crema, and queso fresco. The gorditas al pastor, with crispy masa cake and kurobuta pork belly, and the empanadas de viento, inflated tortillas filled with shrimp and nopales, showcase Chef Patrick’s range. For something heartier, the arrachera – an 8-ounce prime skirt steak with cebolla asada and nopales – is a strong choice. The pozole verde, packed with fish, clams, shrimp, and heirloom hominy, is a seasonally bright option.
Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen extends its reach with catering and taco kits, making the experience portable for gatherings big and small. The taco kits, pre-order only, feed up to ten and include choice of protein, tortillas, toppings, salsas, and guacamole – a practical way to bring the restaurant’s Mexican flavors home.
