The story
Fia began with a vision born on the cliffs of Positano. Hospitality veteran Michael Greco, captivated by the Amalfi Coast’s flavors and landscapes, wanted to bring that magic to Southern California. He found his muse in St. Fiacre, the patron saint of gardeners, and named the restaurant after him. The result is a lush, secret garden tucked away on Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica—a place that feels both whimsical and romantic, far from the city’s bustle.
Step through the gate and you enter a hidden oasis. String lights hang over a peaceful patio, surrounded by greenery. The outdoor seating is a draw year-round, and the restaurant’s design has earned praise from Eater, TimeOut, and The Infatuation as one of LA’s best spots for alfresco dining. Inside, a private room is available for events.
Executive Chef Timothy Cardenas leads a kitchen that blends Italian traditions with California’s fresh, health-conscious approach. The menu is built for sharing. Standouts include the Yellowtail with Aji Amarillo tiger’s milk, radish, and Fresno chili; Burrata with prosciutto, fresh figs, and heirloom fig mostarda; and the Ravioli Alla Zozzona—Italian sausage, braised pork shoulder, and egg yolk in San Marzano tomato sauce. For something decadent, the Handmade Cavatelli with Parmesan, brown butter, and shaved black truffle is a must. Pastry Chef Leila Guizar’s desserts, like the Chocolate Dome with caramelized dark chocolate mousse and caramel ice cream, end the meal on a high note.
Weekend brunch is equally popular, with dishes like the spicy salmon tartare cones and a Strawberry Shortcake with olive oil biscuit and strawberry sorbet.
Fia’s consistent quality and warm hospitality earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, placing it among the top contemporary restaurants in Los Angeles. The restaurant also gives back to the community, hosting Thanksgiving lunches for U.S. veterans and supporting the LA Food Bank through its Fia Feeds campaign.
