The story
For three decades, The Blue Point has been a fixture on the Outer Banks, serving what it describes as "sharp, Southern, locally sourced" cooking. The kitchen draws on the edible bounty of coastal Carolina, using traditional methods like curing, pickling, and smoking to create dishes that are both exciting and familiar. The approach is rooted in the South's ingredients and traditions, yet fueled by experimentation and whimsy.
Since its doors opened in 1989, The Blue Point has built a loyal following. In 2021, local siblings Ryan, Jamie, and Leigh Raskin—collectively known as Sibling Revelry LLC—took ownership, bringing a fresh perspective while honoring the restaurant's legacy. Ryan brings fifteen years of kitchen and management experience (eight of them at The Blue Point), Leigh contributes decades of owning Duck mainstays Wave Pizza Café and Eventide, and Jamie, a CIA-trained sommelier, oversees the wine program. Their combined talents push the kitchen and staff to explore creative boundaries while maintaining the warm hospitality that has always defined the experience.
The wine program is a highlight, earning a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2003. The constantly evolving list is complemented by custom cocktails and mocktails. Guests can deepen their knowledge through the Good Wine Club, a twice-monthly tasting led by certified sommeliers Jamie Raskin and Kelly Donlin, featuring new varietals paired with kitchen nibbles. No wine purchase required.
The Blue Point offers dinner service Tuesday through Saturday, with The BackBar open for drinks and sunset views. Accessible by land or water, the restaurant provides a setting for intimate dinners and private gatherings. Nightly specials and a full menu of beloved dishes, alongside creative nightly offerings, keep guests returning.
This is American cooking that honors its place: sharp, Southern, and always welcoming.
