The story
Since 1979, Fogo de Chão has kept the flames of the culinary art of churrasco burning. The tradition is rooted in the mountainous landscapes of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where the founding brothers grew up on a family farm. They learned to cook in the churrasco style – slow-roasting meats over open flames – and later brought that heritage to the world. The first restaurant, a wood structure in the countryside of Porto Alegre, earned a reputation among politicians, businessmen, and celebrities. Today, the Tysons location continues that legacy, offering an authentic Brazilian steakhouse experience.
The Tysons outpost features the full Churrasco Experience: gaucho-chefs carve fire-roasted cuts tableside, from Picanha and Fraldinha to Wagyu New York Strip and Lamb Chops. Alongside the meats, the seasonal Market Table presents fresh salads, vegetables, and roasted items. Bar Fogo offers Brazilian-inspired small plates and cocktails. For a limited time, guests can enjoy the Fogo Four Course – a selection of favorite cuts, Market Table, sides, and a dessert – for $59 (prices vary at select locations). The restaurant also accommodates large groups, private parties, and offers catering and to-go options.
Fogo de Chão’s wine program has earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. The restaurant’s own Founder’s Tribute Wine Collection features four wines named after the founders: Jorjão (a Malbec), Eulila (a Red Blend), O’Leão (a Red Blend), and The Sonhadores (a Cabernet Sauvignon). Each is crafted to pair with specific cuts, from the silky Jorjão with Picanha to the bold Sonhadores with Filet Mignon. Special events like the VIK Wine Dinner further showcase the commitment to pairing premium South American wines with chef-curated menus.
