Maketto: Asian Restaurant & Marketplace in Washington, DC | Bib Gourmand
At Maketto in Washington, DC, chef Erik Bruner-Yang has created a 6,000 square foot communal marketplace that brings together a restaurant, bar, café, and retail space under one roof. The concept is built around connection: two buildings linked by a courtyard, a roof deck, and a catwalk, all designed with a modern, minimal attitude.
The restaurant itself seats 60 and serves Bruner-Yang’s interpretation of Cambodian and Taiwanese cooking, inspired by the people and flavors of those cultures. The menu, which changes based on ingredient availability, includes dim sum served à la carte alongside a full beverage program. The kitchen is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM, with the café serving from 9 AM.
Maketto’s approach is straightforward: “Let our products speak for themselves.” The team’s mission is to build community through quality, consistency, and accessibility. This philosophy, combined with the restaurant’s bold, ingredient-driven Asian cuisine, earned it a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026—a recognition of good quality, good value cooking that fits naturally into the welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere Bruner-Yang has cultivated. Whether you come for a coffee and pastry, a dinner of dim sum, or to browse the curated retail selection, the hope is that you’ll try something new and find a reason to return.
