The story

Tiger Fork Washington DC – Modern Hong Kong Street Food in Blagden Alley

Tiger Fork: A Modern Hong Kong Kitchen in Blagden Alley

Tucked away in Shaw’s historic Blagden Alley, Tiger Fork brings the energy of a Hong Kong street-food den to Washington, DC. The restaurant, led by Culinary Director Nathan Beauchamp and Executive Chef Simon Lam, offers a playful menu of modern takes on Hong Kong street food, traditional dim sum, and classic Chinese dishes with a global influence. The team emphasizes family-style plates and communal dining, mirroring the spirit of their favorite Hong Kong eateries.

The dining room, designed by Edit Lab at Streetsense, is a sultry space lined with exposed brick, large-scale murals of dragons and mountains, hanging Chinese basket-style lanterns, and colorful tiles. An octagonal bar at the center showcases the house-made tonics and Chinese spirits used in the restaurant’s signature medicinal cocktails. An 8-seat chef’s counter offers a front-row view of the kitchen grills, where dishes like glossy soy-and-ginger pork ribs and sensational fried rice with shrimp and white fish are prepared.

The beverage program, designed by Ian Fletcher, goes beyond the typical cocktail list. Guests can explore drinks spiked with traditional Chinese medicinal herbs and tonics, each formulated with specific wellness properties in mind. The “Bird Market” cocktail, a chartreuse blend with elderflower, bai zhu, and bergamot, is a standout.

Tiger Fork has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, with the guide praising it as a “sultry Hong Kong-style den.” The Washington Post’s Tom Sietsema awarded it three stars, calling the barbecue plate of crisp-fatty pork belly and soya chicken a must-order, and Washingtonian notes the “party-that-never-stops vibe” that draws a young, late-night crowd. This is a spot where the Cantonese cooking is both reverent and inventive, and the atmosphere is unmistakably electric.
