The story
In 2014, Andrew Dana and Chris Brady started Timber Pizza Company in their off-hours with a pizza oven, a '67 Chevy pickup truck, and a deep love of dough. Chef Dani Moreira, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, soon joined, and the Timber Fam was officially established. The first brick-and-mortar location opened in 2016 on Upshur Street in Petworth, Washington, D.C. The team’s philosophy is simple: the day they stop having fun is the day they shut down the ovens for good.
All pizzas are 12-inch pies, cooked in a wood-fired oven. The menu is built around quality ingredients sourced from local partners like Owl's Nest Farm, Chup's, and South Mountain Creamery. Standouts include The Shirley (provolone and mozzarella blend with pesto, tomato drizzle, jalapeños, and cured chorizo) and The Bentley (tomato sauce, cured chorizo, soppressata, Peruvian sweet peppers, and spicy honey). For a vegetarian option, The Martha layers cream, shaved fennel, garlic, kale, and Meyer lemon. Gluten-free crust is available, though the kitchen cannot guarantee against cross-contamination.
Timber Pizza Co. describes itself as "your favorite neighborhood pizza shop." The Petworth location is walk-in only, first come first served. The team emphasizes community, calling their customers and staff the "Timber Fam." This welcoming approach, combined with consistently excellent pizza, earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction, a recognition that speaks to the quality and care behind every pie.
Whether you're grabbing takeout or settling in for a casual dinner, Timber Pizza Co. delivers a warm, unpretentious experience built on great ingredients and a genuine love for the craft.
