The story
Under the direction of celebrated Chef José Andrés and his José Andrés Group team, Zaytinya offers an innovative mezze menu inspired by Turkish, Greek, and Lebanese cuisines, served up in a sleek and modern setting. Building on José’s deep knowledge of Mediterranean cooking and years of research and travel, the menu features shared small plates of authentic and innovative fare, creative cocktails, and unique Mediterranean wines.
Located at 701 9th Street NW, the restaurant has become one of the most exciting dining destinations in Washington, partly thanks to Head Chef Terry Natas. The atmosphere is refined yet welcoming, with spaces ranging from an intimate bar and “blue room” to a spacious but secluded terrace. For larger events of 100-300 people, the restaurant even offers full or partial buy-out.
The commitment to quality and value has earned Zaytinya a Michelin Bib Gourmand, a recognition that reflects its consistent delivery of good food at accessible prices. This award underscores the restaurant’s appeal for both casual lunches and celebratory dinners, where the Mediterranean cuisine shines through dishes meant to be shared.
Whether you’re exploring the mezze menu for the first time or returning for a favorite, Zaytinya remains a cornerstone of Washington’s dining scene—a place where tradition meets innovation in every bite.
