The story
Since 1979, Fogo de Chão has kept the flames of the churrasco tradition burning. Rooted in the mountainous landscapes of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, the founders grew up on a traditional farm in the Serra Gaucha, learning the grilling techniques that would become the backbone of the restaurant. After formal churrasqueiro training in Rio and São Paulo, the first restaurant opened in Porto Alegre, built from a wood structure and driven by an obsessive dedication to quality.
The White Plains location brings this rich heritage to New York. The experience centers on the culinary art of churrasco—fire-roasted meats carved tableside by gaucho chefs. Guests can choose from a selection of signature Brazilian cuts, including Picanha (prime part of the top sirloin) and Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), alongside a freshly curated Market Table and authentic sides. The restaurant also features Bar Fogo, offering Brazilian-inspired small plates and cocktails.
The wine program has earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, reflecting a thoughtful curation that complements the bold flavors of the churrasco. The Founders Tribute Wine Collection, featuring wines from Argentina, Chile, and California, is designed to pair specifically with the menu’s fire-roasted meats.
For those seeking a deeper dive, special events like the VIK Wine Dinner offer a chef-curated multi-course experience pairing premium South American wines with indulgent cuts such as Wagyu New York Strip and Beef Ancho Bone-in Ribeye.
Fogo de Chão in White Plains is a place where the heritage of Brazilian steakhouse dining is honored daily, from the first cut to the last sip.
