The story
“We at Esta stay true to our nature in any reason. This is where a celebration of Vietnam’s terroir, plants and seasons, through dishes cooked simply with fire.” That philosophy has guided Esta since its opening in 2019. Situated on a quiet street in District 1, the restaurant quickly became a fixture in Ho Chi Minh City’s dining scene, earning a place in the Michelin Guide in 2023 and retaining its Recommended status in 2026.
For head chef Long Cuong, fire is both ingredient and technique. “Something so simple but so essential, so basic but so inspirational,” he says. “We need to learn, generates heat and understand the temperature to master the fire.” That mastery translates into dishes that foreground the natural character of Vietnamese produce, cooked over open flames without unnecessary fuss. The kitchen works seasonally, letting plants and local ingredients dictate the menu.
Esta serves Asian contemporary cuisine built around fire, flavor, and creativity. Guests can choose from a diverse à la carte selection or a carefully curated tasting menu, both designed for sharing and savoring. A thoughtful wine list complements the meal, keeping the experience relaxed and casual. The restaurant seats diners at counter tables and in a private room, with air conditioning throughout.
Michelin’s inspectors noted Esta’s “innovative approach to cuisine” and its role in Vietnam’s evolving gastronomic landscape. The restaurant also appears in Robb Report Vietnam’s Top 25 Restaurants. For chef Long Cuong, the accolades reflect a deeper commitment: bringing the best of nature to the plate, one fire-kissed dish at a time.
