The story
Fashionista Café occupies the ground floor of The House of Fashion at 22B Phung Khac Khoan, on a quiet street corner in District 1. The restaurant describes itself as a "winter garden" – a serene, glass-enclosed space filled with greenery that softens the tropical heat. It is a place for unhurried breakfasts, leisurely lunches, afternoon tea, and candlelit dinners.
The kitchen is led by Chef Sakal Phoeung, President of Escoffier Vietnam, who crafts a menu of European Contemporary cuisine that draws on both French technique and local ingredients. The restaurant’s consistent quality has been recognised by Michelin, earning a spot on the Michelin Selected list for 2023, 2024 and 2025, and a Michelin Recommended award for 2026.
The menu reveals a chef confident in blending traditions. Starters include Japanese scallops with cauliflower mousse, caviar and basil oil, or foie gras with brioche and red wine braised starfruit. Pastas and noodles take unexpected turns: truffle-infused pho broth with roasted duck and shiitake mushrooms, and tiger prawn pasta with bisque sauce and chili oil. Among the main courses, dry-aged duck breast with honey roasted carrots, spinach-wrapped black rice, and mulberry sauce sits alongside a classic Angus filet mignon with Café de Paris butter.
For lunch, a set menu offers a choice between smoked salmon salad or tapioca pearls in mushroom soup, followed by miso-grilled Alaska black cod or red wine braised beef with truffle potatoes. The three- and five-course dinner menus expand the experience, featuring dishes such as seared scallops with smoked eggplant purée, and grilled Angus sirloin with coffee sauce. All desserts are prepared daily.
Fashionista Café is open from 9:00 to 22:00, serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. Its winter garden setting offers a cool, elegant refuge in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, where European Contemporary cuisine meets the flavours of Vietnam.
