The story
On the second floor of Sofitel Saigon Plaza, ST25 by KOTO presents a dining experience that honours Vietnam’s culinary heritage while embracing a meaningful social purpose. The restaurant takes its name from the ST25 rice variety, which was crowned “World’s Best Rice” in 2019, and reflects the team’s dedication to contemporary Vietnamese cuisine. Here, every meal is part of a larger mission: contributing to community development through the KOTO (Know One, Teach One) social enterprise, which empowers at-risk and disadvantaged youth through culinary and hospitality training.
The kitchen is led by chefs Bao La and Heath Gordon, who craft a menu centred on locally procured, seasonal ingredients. The result is Vietnamese cuisine that feels both rooted and refined, a tribute to the country’s flavours and the people behind them.
A key figure at ST25 by KOTO is Brand Ambassador Tommy Pham, a Vietnamese Australian chef who rose to prominence on MasterChef Australia Seasons 13 and 14. Born in Australia to Vietnamese parents, Pham is a passionate advocate for his heritage, introducing dishes like bún bò Huế and cơm tấm to international audiences. He credits his mother for teaching him the art of balancing flavours, and his work at ST25 by KOTO continues that tradition. Beyond the kitchen, Pham champions the KOTO mission, using his culinary skills to bridge cultural divides and inspire the next generation.
ST25 by KOTO has earned a place on the Michelin Guide’s Recommended list for 2025, a testament to its quality and consistency. The restaurant has also been named among the Top 20 Best Restaurants by Tatler Best Vietnam 2025 and recognised as the Best Luxury Innovative Restaurant in Asia by the World Luxury Awards 2025. The dining space itself is designed to be both elegant and welcoming, a place where the quintessence of Vietnamese cuisine and a commitment to social good come together seamlessly.
