The story
Martino Wines, a winery and restaurant in Mendoza’s Luján de Cuyo region, earned a Michelin recommendation for its distinctive approach to modern cuisine and wine. Housed in a restored 1901 structure that was carefully renovated in 2012, the bodega blends historical integrity with contemporary purpose. The original materials and architectural character were preserved, while a 2015 expansion increased capacity and attracted renowned winemakers to craft their high-end wines on site.
The property sits in Mayor Drummond, surrounded by two vineyards worked sustainably to express the authentic character of each terroir. One of them, La Violeta, is a centenary vineyard that inspires the winery’s forward-looking vision. The atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious, reflecting a philosophy that values emotion over impression.
Martino Wines’ manifesto states: “We do not make wines to impress. We make them to move, to accompany real moments and awaken memories.” This belief drives their exploration of forgotten grape varieties and their commitment to showcasing Argentina’s diverse viticultural richness. While Malbec features prominently—their Gran Malbec is aged 30 months and displays deep aromas of dried plum, dark fruit, tobacco, and chocolate—the winery actively looks beyond Malbec to noble varietals that reveal the true wealth of Argentine terroir.
The restaurant offers a tasting menu with wine pairings, allowing guests to experience the wines alongside modern cuisine that complements their character. The gastronomic experience is designed to be shared in the place where the wines are born, turning a meal into an exploration of the estate’s history and landscape. Outdoor seating is available, and the space is wheelchair accessible.
Martino Wines’ Michelin recommendation recognizes not only the quality of the wines but the coherence of the entire experience—a place where modern cuisine, authentic hospitality, and a deep respect for the land come together naturally.
