The story

Vineyard Restaurant in Langenlois | Award-Winning Austrian Regional Cooking

The kitchen and its leadership

Vineyard in Langenlois brings a refined approach to Austrian regional cooking within the Loisium spa hotel. Chef Lucas Guggi leads a focused brigade that includes sous-chef Benjamin Mohr, maître Akos Rozsandombi, and pastry chef Alexander Ertl-Kerschner. Their work has earned a 13.5-point rating from Gault&Millau, reflecting a disciplined focus on seasonal produce. The team operates on a tight evening schedule from 18:00 until 22:30.

Seasonal plates and precise pairings

The kitchen builds its offerings around locally sourced ingredients rather than complex constructions. Guests can choose between beetroot tartare or baked celery depending on their dietary preferences. Meat diners often order beef tartare available in two portion sizes or roasted venison back. A marinated salmon trout receives a subtle citrus accent through yuzu, bridging local waters with light Asian notes while keeping the regional cuisine grounded.

Atmosphere and architectural setting

Set inside a modern building designed by architect Steven Holl, the dining room favors muted lighting and quiet corners. Service remains unobtrusive, allowing guests to settle into a relaxed pace. The wine list stays deliberately small, focusing on glasses poured directly from selected bottles. This restrained style defines every plate of Austrian cooking served here.

Sit down and relax. In the restaurant attached to the spa hotel, everything is relaxed: soft lighting, unobtrusive friendly service, and a small, manageable menu featuring regional and seasonal products. Both vegans (beetroot tartare or roasted celery) and meat lovers (beef tartare in two selectable portion sizes or venison loin) will find exactly what they want here. The cured salmon trout receives an Asian touch from yuzu that blends beautifully. The selection of wines available by the glass is surprisingly limited.
