The story
Florian Böker partnered with Andreas Hofmayer to launch the venue in May 2020, aiming to create a space designed for guests who prefer substance over pretense. Under chef Daniel Schenk, the kitchen treats Austrian lakeside cuisine as a daily practice rather than a seasonal performance. Domenique Unterweger guides the floor with a focus on steady pacing, which allows diners to linger through lunch or settle into the second evening seating without feeling rushed.
Large windows direct attention toward the Wörthersee shoreline, while the indoor dining area and adjacent terrace accommodate both sunlit lunches and cooler evenings. The team splits the evening service into two distinct seatings, a structure that keeps table turnover manageable and preserves a calm atmosphere. Families occupy a designated corner during daytime hours, and dogs are welcome at select tables when arranged in advance.
The menu leans on regional ingredients prepared with minimal fuss, though the true standout arrives as a chilled platter of raw vegetables paired with house-made dips. That same straightforward approach earned the Wagyu beef burger high marks from reviewers, and the overall Gault&Millau rating reflects how efficiently the kitchen handles steady demand. Guests can pair these meals with creative Rose signature drinks, though the beverage list runs on the pricier side.
