The story

Casino Kulinarium Vienna: Refined Austrian Cooking in Historic Döbling

The Chef and the Kitchen

Casino Kulinarium in Vienna presents a refined Austrian cuisine under the direction of chef Stefan Glantschnig. Recent renovations transformed the space into a bright dining room that connects directly to the historic House of Strauss museum. Glantschnig builds his Austrian cooking around seasonal produce and regional suppliers rather than rigid tradition.

Seasonal Plates and Regional Ingredients

The menu shifts frequently to highlight local harvests, yet certain preparations remain consistent favorites. Guests often start with smoked curd dressed in walnut oil and paired with young beetle beans. Main courses feature delicate river trout sourced from Gut Dornau or the rich layers of traditional Somlauer Nockerln finished tableside.

Dining Room and Terrace Space

The cheerful interior avoids heavy formality in favor of comfortable seating and visible kitchen activity. A sheltered beer garden extends the dining area during warmer months, offering a relaxed setting for groups and solo visitors alike. The kitchen recently secured an 11.5 rating from Gault&Millau, a mark of quality that reflects its steady commitment to Viennese gastronomy.

Feudal balls are no longer held at Casino Zögernitz, but since its renovation a few years ago, not only the House of Strauss (one of Vienna's Strauss museums) welcomes visitors, but also the cheerful and colorful culinary offerings. Stefan Glantschnig serves not only tourist groups that sometimes overwhelm the friendly staff, but also lovers of refined cuisine. The menu spans from creative dishes (smoked quark with caraway oil and runner beans) to fine fish (salmon trout from Gut Dornau) and reaches all the way to perfectly executed Somlauer Nockerln. A truly pleasant beer garden! Address: Döblinger Hauptstraße 76, 1190 Vienna, Austria. Contact: 0676 741 7036, restaurant@zoegernitz.com, https://www.zoegernitz.com/de/kulinarium/.
