The story

Nido Bistro Vienna: A Streamlined Fusion Cuisine Without Compromise

The kitchen and its philosophy

Nido Bistro in Vienna defines a streamlined fusion cuisine where Japanese precision meets Italian comfort. Chef Philipp Barosch designs the menu to operate simply without gimmicks, while keeping product quality completely uncompromised. This clear direction earned a twelve point rating from Gault&Millau for 2026.

Plates that travel without leaving the district

A chilled salad bowl arrives with seasoned sushi rice and raw tuna tartare, establishing the cross cultural balance on the plate. The kitchen follows with spaghetti tossed in oil, garlic, and chili, then serves mussels alongside a rich tomato and zucchini risotto. Pan seared branzino pairs with spring asparagus for lighter selections. Desserts lean toward familiar Italian cuisine standards, highlighted by a fresh lemon tiramisu layered with strawberries.

Evening atmosphere and seasonal rhythms

The dining room sits quietly on Märzstraße in Vienna’s ninth district, delivering a genuine bistro atmosphere focused on guest comfort. Extended hours now welcome visitors every evening from Monday through Saturday. Uncluttered tables and warm wood surfaces keep the attention entirely on the food. Summer brings a temporary outdoor setup called Nido Weekend near Neustift am Walde, where the same refined cuisine continues under open skies.

Simple, without frills, yet uncompromising when it comes to ingredient quality and flavor – this is how Bistro zum Wohlfühlen im Neunten presents itself. Philipp Barosch chooses fusion cuisine as his successful concept: the salad bowl with sushi rice and tuna tartare transports us to Japan, the spaghetti olio aglio peperoncino, the mussels with tomato-zucchini risotto, the branzino fillet with asparagus, and the fresh, creamy lemon tiramisu with strawberries bring us to Italy in an instant. In summer: pop-up "Nido Weekend" in Neustift am Walde. Address: Märzstraße 77, 1150 Vienna, Austria.
