The story
Located near Wiener Neustadt, Görg operates as a focused Austrian kitchen rooted in the traditions of southern Lower Austria. Stefan and Martin Görg stepped into the helm of their family restaurant in Katzelsdorf during the winter of 2024. Their culinary approach builds directly on decades of experience dating back to the property’s 1968 founding as a local wine tavern. Stefan manages the seasoning and flavor balance across every plate, while Martin focuses on the precise arrangement and visual presentation.
The menu shifts with what arrives from the nearby meadows and forests of the Buckligen World. Guests choose between a guided tasting progression or individual selections that highlight local ingredients. A recent critic noted how broccoli dressed with kalamansi and sour cream pairs cleanly with roasted trout served alongside fennel. The Austrian cooking stays grounded here, letting simple preparations carry the weight of high quality produce.
The dining room sits at the edge of a forest clearing, offering a calm backdrop for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings around the communal table. An orange tree planted by the grandmother years ago stands near the entrance, marking the shift from the original guesthouse to a recognized destination. The space earned a score of fifteen from Gault&Millau last year, reflecting how quietly the staff moves through service.
