The story
The name La Régalade comes from a Southern French custom: pouring a drink straight into the throat, a gesture of conviviality. That spirit runs through this restaurant in Toernich, a short drive from Arlon. Sandrine, originally from that sunny region, brings its warmth to the contemporary decor.
The restaurant occupies the former farm of chef Eddy Mertes’s grandparents. The old barn has been transformed into a bright, elegant dining room with a light-filled extension. Outside, a terrace overlooks the greenery. The result is a space that feels both modern and personal, with parking and private rooms available for banquets.
Eddy Mertes cooks modern cuisine that follows the rhythm of the seasons. His dishes are inspired by the garden, and the menu changes every six to eight weeks. He uses a wide range of spices and aromatics to create layers of flavour. The quality has been recognised by both Gault & Millau and the Michelin guide, which gives it a Recommended rating.
Sandrine, who runs the front of house, pairs each dish with a carefully chosen wine. She also offers a selection of regional cheeses, a highlight for many guests.
La Régalade is equally suited for private events. The different spaces can be adapted for seated dinners, cocktail receptions, or terrace drinks, all tailored to the client’s budget. Whether you come for a quiet dinner or a celebration, the atmosphere remains refined yet welcoming – a modern cuisine destination that stays true to its convivial roots.
