The story
In the centre of Binche, chef Arnaud Molle runs Cul de Poule, a culinary workshop that the Michelin guide has recognised with a Bib Gourmand for its good quality, good value cooking. The restaurant describes its kitchen as refined and creative Modern French, with a menu that changes every week.
The dishes follow the seasons and are built around respect for the product, preferably sourced from local suppliers. A recent weekly menu gives a clear sense of the style: beef tartare with pepper tapenade and basil pesto, followed by a tajine of monkfish with mild spices and crushed Ratte potatoes, or Landes poultry with caramelised vegetables. Desserts might include a cappuccino entremet or rhubarb with strawberry, lime and meringue. The menu is offered at 49€ per person, or 68€ with a selected wine pairing.
The setting matches the cooking. The restaurant has been entirely redecorated and is described as calm and warm. When the weather allows, guests can sit on the terrace overlooking the garden – a small space that feels far from the city. Cul de Poule is open for lunch and dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and for lunch on Sunday.
Beyond the dining room, the team draws on years of experience to offer a full catering service, from family receptions to corporate dinners and cocktail parties. They also run the Cul de Poule Academy, with cooking classes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
