The story
Perched above a window showroom and coworking space, Toit in Braine-l'Alleud is exactly what its name suggests: a roof. Conceived by the Boulemberg family, the restaurant was born from a desire for escape, a pause in the day for lunch or dinner. The setting is distinctly original—a rooftop terrace that catches the sun and offers a sense of elevation, equally enjoyable in summer and during the shoulder seasons.
The kitchen at Toit works with a deliberately short menu, a choice made to guarantee fresh, seasonal products. The cuisine is Italian and Mediterranean in spirit, with dishes that change regularly. The current carte highlights starters like homemade grey shrimp croquettes, parmesan fondue, and duck foie gras with Porto, served with brioche and a mango chutney. Main courses range from fresh pasta with lobster (from their own tank) and a cod fillet with beurre blanc, to a Holstein beef entrecôte and a Black Angus côte à l’os. The commitment to freshness is evident in the minute-steak américain and the vegetarian cannelloni.
The energy of the coworking space below blends with the restaurant’s environment, creating a dynamic ambiance that is particularly popular for afterworks with nearby businesses. Beyond the dining room, the bar at Toit welcomes guests without reservation every evening. In winter, a heated pergola with a wood stove provides a warm setting, while summer brings the full rooftop terrace to life. The bar serves a dedicated menu of cocktails, including the signature "Toit" aperitif with rosé prosecco and myrtle liqueur, alongside finger food like patatas bravas and bruschetta. This is a place to take a bit of height and let the unique atmosphere carry you.
