The story
In the heart of the Pays de Herve, Les Fines Gueules is a welcoming French bistro where simplicity and emotion meet on the plate. The team describes their cooking as rooted in the rich produce of the region, with a touch of Asia and a hint of Tuscany. Everything is made in-house, from the terrine de campagne that has been on the menu since the restaurant opened in 2012 to the daily specials.
The restaurant has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for seven consecutive years, a recognition of its consistently good quality and good value cooking. It was also a favourite in Gault & Millau, receiving a "coup de cœur" in 2023. These awards reflect the kitchen's commitment to honest, flavourful French cuisine that honours both tradition and the local landscape.
Dining here feels like a proper bistro experience. The interior is straightforward and uncluttered, letting the food take centre stage. When the weather permits, the terrace opens up — it was voted among Belgium's most beautiful by the Michelin Guide — offering panoramic views over the bocages, hedges and orchards that define the region. The space seats 40 guests indoors and has a large outdoor area.
For those who want to linger, Les Fines Gueules also operates seven guest rooms with sweeping views over the countryside. It’s a place designed for genuine hospitality: a good meal, a comfortable night, and a sense of being looked after without fuss.
Whether you come for lunch, dinner, or a weekend stay, the focus is always on produce-driven, home-made French cuisine served in a relaxed setting. That commitment to straightforward quality is what keeps guests returning year after year.
