The story
In the heart of Couvin, in the valley of the Eaux Vives, Nulle Part Ailleurs is an establishment that speaks two culinary languages. Under one roof, you’ll find a refined restaurant and a convivial bistro, each with its own character. The restaurant Nulle Part Ailleurs leans into modern gastronomy while respecting the traditions of the terroir. The bistro, L’Absinthe, offers a more casual, hearty experience inspired by French country cooking.
Michelin has awarded Nulle Part Ailleurs a Bib Gourmand, a recognition of good quality cooking at a reasonable price. The Bib Gourmand menu, priced at €53, changes with the seasons. A recent version featured a pressed Gers guinea fowl with Chablis and gribiche sauce, followed by grilled duck breast with Sichuan pepper, beets with Kriek beer, and a cromesqui of confit duck leg. Dessert might be roasted pineapple with lime, banana ravioli, and coconut panna cotta. A wine pairing option is available for €26.
L’Absinthe is the more informal side of the house. The menu reads like a greatest hits of French bistro fare: cassoulet with confit duck, blanquette de veau, beef bourguignon, and boulettes in tomato sauce. All preparations are made in-house. There’s also a lunch du marché at €29, served Wednesday through Friday midday. The wine list here is curated with authentic, artisanal wines, and a selection of wines by the glass is written on the slate.
The restaurant’s wine list boasts over 500 references, constantly evolving, and is advised by a Master Sommelier Sopexa. The same passion for wine extends to the adjoining boutique, Côté Terroir, which stocks wines, spirits, and fine foods. Whether you’re drawn to the gastronomic precision of the Bib Gourmand menu or the rustic comfort of L’Absinthe, Nulle Part Ailleurs offers a genuine, well-crafted dining experience in the heart of Belgian Ardennes.
