The story
La Fermette occupies a centuries-old stone farmhouse in the village of Falaën, a quiet corner of the Molignée valley. Sarah Bohet and Michaël Vancraeynest have turned the space into a dining room that feels both rustic and refined. In warm weather, the terrace offers a view of the surrounding countryside.
The cooking is modern French, but anchored in the traditions of the region. The seasonal menu changes regularly, but from May to June a special lobster menu takes centre stage. It begins with poached claws in court-bouillon, with peas, rhubarb and beetroot, then roasted tail with a sweet onion compote and parmesan cracker. A lobster cappuccino follows, then the main event: grilled lobster over wood fire with fresh thyme. A cheese course—fromages d’ici et d’ailleurs—is available for a supplement, and the meal finishes with strawberries from Falaën.
The regular seasonal menu offers flexibility: three to six courses, with dishes like green asparagus from a local farm, veal fillet with piperade and chorizo, or grilled ribeye with béarnaise. Wine pairings are offered at 7 euros per glass.
The Michelin Bib Gourmand recognizes La Fermette for its good quality, good value cooking. The restaurant is open for dinner, with parking available and the possibility to host private parties for a minimum of 20 guests on closed days. Dietary accommodations are possible on request.
