The story
Couleur Rouge in Eupen describes its cooking as French gastronomy refined with a hint of Asian cuisine. That promise delivers: dishes like marinated trout with sweet-sour white cabbage and bear garlic pesto sit alongside foie gras marinated with Japanese whisky. The kitchen's approach has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, placing it among Belgium's noteworthy dining addresses.
The menu is offered in three-, four-, or six-course formats, with an optional wine selection. A recent three-course menu began with kohlrabi with turmeric and black garlic mayonnaise, followed by a choice of main courses such as red quinoa risotto with a meli-melo of vegetables and spring onion oil, duck breast cooked skin-side down with braised chicory and orange-honey sauce, or steamed halibut with vegetables and a warm bergamot vinaigrette. Desserts include a chocolate mousse with hazelnut dacquoise and a yogurt-mango bavarois. For cheese lovers, a trolley of Belgian raw-milk cheeses is available as a supplement.
The restaurant also operates a Gourmet Shop on the same street, offering a selection of wines, Japanese whisky, and an exclusive cold counter with Belgian raw-milk cheeses. Gift vouchers are valid both in the shop and the restaurant. The space itself is simple and welcoming, with outdoor seating available in warmer months.
