The story
A visit to La Belle begins with a feeling of comfort that lasts through the final bite. The dining room is warm and welcoming, the service attentive and prompt. The kitchen, led by chef Peter Vangenechten, sends out dishes that are refined, deep, and intense – built on familiar flavours that somehow still surprise. The team is young and motivated, and their commitment to quality shows in every plate.
“La Belle is coming home for me,” says chef Vangenechten. He was drawn to cooking from a young age, training in top restaurants in Belgium and abroad. After 15 years away, he returned to his birthplace in Geel Bel to open his own restaurant. In 2013, he received a Michelin star, and he has defended it every year since – including the 2026 edition, marking the thirteenth consecutive year. The star is a recognition of the hard work of the entire team and their partners.
La Belle follows the seasons, sourcing regional produce directly from farmers. The result is modern-classic French cuisine that respects the ingredients and highlights their natural taste. For lunch on Monday and Friday, a three-course menu is offered. For a more extensive experience, choose from the 4-, 5-, or 6-course menus. On Sundays and Mondays, the chef’s all-inclusive surprise menu is available. A la carte options are also offered for smaller groups. The wine list is carefully curated, and the sommelier is happy to guide you to the perfect pairing.
The Michelin star has been a constant companion for La Belle – a testament to the precision and passion that define the kitchen. The team continues to set the bar high, doing what they do with heart and soul. As the chef says, “Without our guests, no La Belle.” The restaurant is deeply grateful for the recognition and remains dedicated to offering an experience that is both exclusive and genuinely warm.
