The story

Brasserie Boulevard in Gent – Michelin-Recommended Belgian Classic Cuisine

A Warm Welcome in Sint-Martens-Latem

Just outside Gent, in Sint-Martens-Latem, Brasserie Boulevard offers a modern take on Belgian cuisine that has earned it a Michelin recommendation. The restaurant is the domain of host Thomas Schmidt, whose career includes a stint at three-Michelin-starred Hof Van Cleve and who was named Gastheer Van Het Jaar (Host of the Year) in 2016. His approach is simple: create a place where atmosphere and taste meet effortlessly.

The interior blends natural materials with a warm, inviting setting. In winter, a crackling open fire adds to the cosiness; in summer, the spacious terrace becomes the place to be. Whether you come for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner, the mood is unhurried and welcoming.

Classic Dishes, Freshly Interpreted

The menu is a confident mix of brasserie classics and original “Blvd-gerechten.” You’ll find beloved Belgian staples such as garnaalkroketten (grey shrimp croquettes) and vol-au-vent made with Mechelse Koekoek chicken, alongside more refined creations like ravioli with burrata, tomato and basil, or red poon with fennel and white wine sauce. The kitchen works exclusively with seasonal ingredients, and the carte changes to reflect what’s best.

For sharing, there are hapjes like Nobashi shrimp with crème point paprika and labneh, or a Wagyu A5 Cecina on toast. Mains range from a classic steak tartare to a Côte à l’Os Blvd. for two, and the desserts – crème brûlée with Madagascar vanilla, a warm moelleux chocolate cake – round off the meal with quiet confidence.

A Place for Every Occasion

Brasserie Boulevard is open Monday to Friday for lunch and dinner, and Saturday evenings for dinner. The combination of authentic Belgian cuisine, a relaxed yet polished setting, and Thomas Schmidt’s attentive hospitality makes it a natural choice for a business lunch, a date night, or a gathering with friends. It’s the good life, without the fuss.
