The story
Brasserie Latem has been a fixture in Sint-Martens-Latem for thirty years, earning a Michelin Recommended distinction for its consistent, thoughtful cooking. The menu is built on French classics, but the kitchen adds a light, contemporary touch that keeps things interesting.
The restaurant is split into two distinct experiences. In the bar & bites section, guests share plates in a relaxed setting. The main restaurant focuses on classic brasserie dishes with a modern twist. In summer, the spacious terrace opens up with views of the open grills, making the most of the warm weather. When the season turns, the interior becomes warm and inviting.
Two tasting menus showcase the chef’s range. The Taste of Latem menu (€59, including two drinks) is a set three-course meal that changes with the seasons. Recent iterations have included asparagus with smoked salmon and a creamy egg from Happy Chickens, Iberico presa with Bordelaise sauce, and a Pavlova with red fruit and strawberry ice cream. For those who prefer to surrender control, the Omakase experience (€69) offers five surprise courses, prepared entirely on the chef’s intuition. It can be enjoyed at the bar or in the restaurant, and each iteration is unique.
The wine list is carefully curated, and the restaurant also runs its own wine shop and a takeaway service for those who want to enjoy the food at home. With its emphasis on French technique and seasonal ingredients, Brasserie Latem delivers a confident, unfussy meal that feels both classic and current.
