The story
Since opening their doors on 8 September 2005, Caroline and Bert have built Deboeveries on a foundation of warm gastvrijheid – genuine hospitality. Two decades later, that same welcoming atmosphere and commitment to quality remain at the heart of the experience. Located in Deurle, just outside Gent, the restaurant has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for its consistent, classic cuisine.
The kitchen focuses on seasonal ingredients, offering both monthly changing menus and à la carte dishes that reflect the best of the moment. A standout tradition is Friday Visdag: every Friday lunch, the restaurant serves its speciality of North Sea sole, and guests receive a complimentary shrimp croquette to start. It is a simple, confident gesture that defines the place.
Beyond the weekly fish day, Deboeveries offers a rotating series of themed dining experiences. On Mondays, a special theme menu runs through lunch and dinner – featuring asparagus in spring and a full lobster menu from late June. Tuesdays bring the Luxe Menu, beginning with a glass of Champagne and accompanied by a carefully selected wine pairing.
For those seeking a more casual option, the business lunch is available on weekdays, and the Sunday evening menu provides a relaxed end to the weekend with classic dishes like homemade shrimp croquettes and grilled North Sea sole. The monthly menu always offers a choice between two main courses, balancing land and sea.
Deboeveries is a restaurant that knows what it is: a place for honest, seasonal cooking served with genuine warmth. The dining room is open for lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, and for dinner on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Whether for a Friday sole, a Monday lobster, or a quiet Sunday supper, the invitation is simple and direct: "Graag tot binnenkort!"
