The story
Just a stone’s throw from the city centre and the famous Muur van Geraardsbergen, Restaurant Zicht opened its doors in June 2021. Behind this story are Kwinten and Hélène. He is a passionate chef and gourmand; she is an experienced hostess with a warm heart for hospitality. Together, they run the restaurant with just the two of them, creating an intimate, homey atmosphere where experience and attention to the guest come first.
At Zicht, you can enjoy a French-Belgian gastronomic cuisine: refined and pure. From amuse to coffee, every dish is prepared with care, passion and expertise. Kwinten built his expertise under the wings of renowned Flemish top chefs, within his own catering business, and in collaboration with Relais & Châteaux in Wallonia. His love for honest and expressive cooking translates into elegant dishes made with the best seasonal products – often straight from their own garden.
The culinary vision shines brightest in a seasonal discovery menu of four, five or six courses. A refined weekday lunch is served from Wednesday to Friday, and one Sunday per month the doors open for the full six-course experience. A 100% vegetarian ‘green’ menu is also available. The cuisine is modern, with dishes like mackerel with courgette and black garlic, or a carrot tempura with shiso and elderflower, followed by a pistachio cheesecake with spruce tips and apricot.
Hélène welcomes you with open arms, ensuring you want for nothing. Her experience in the hotel industry means she knows exactly how to pamper guests and make every visit a warm, memorable experience. This personal, two-person approach is a conscious choice, and it has earned Restaurant Zicht a Michelin Recommended award – a recognition that feels like a natural fit for a restaurant where emotion translates into gastronomy.
