The Story Behind Lizanna

In the quiet village of Beerzel, part of Heist-op-den-Berg, Lizanna is the realisation of a dream shared by chefs Stephanie and Levy. The restaurant’s name honours their grandmothers, Liza and Anna – two women who instilled in them a love for good food, hospitality, and warmth. Those memories are now at the heart of every meal served here.

Both Stephanie and Levy bring deep experience from well‑known kitchens across Belgium – think ’t Fornuis, Gustatif, Melchior, and Fragma – but it was meeting each other that truly sparked the idea. Together, they opened Lizanna to offer a product‑driven kitchen in a setting that feels both elegant and genuinely welcoming.

What to Expect

The menu changes with the seasons, and the current offering (valid through March 21, 2026) showcases the kitchen’s Modern French touch. A typical meal might begin with Balfego tuna paired with radish, seaweed, and citrus; move on to ray with cauliflower, dashi, and wild garlic; then langoustine with leek, sea asparagus, and Parmesan. Main courses include French farm chicken from Racan with morels, chicory, and potato, or a dual‑purpose beef sirloin (served for two) with lettuce, fresh fries, and béarnaise. Desserts such as rhubarb with sour cream, vanilla, and hibiscus bring a clean finish.

Guests can choose from a four‑course menu at 80 euros or a five‑course version at 99 euros. A three‑course lunch menu is available on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons for 58 euros. À la carte options are also offered, and on Friday and Saturday evenings, only the five‑course menu or à la carte is served.

Atmosphere and Recognition

The restaurant occupies the first floor of a historic building, with a lift available for those who need it – simply mention it when booking. The interior is warm and homey, a direct reflection of the hospitality Stephanie and Levy learned from their grandmothers. Outdoor seating is available during warmer months, and the space is wheelchair accessible.

In 2026, Lizanna earned a Michelin Recommended distinction – a fitting nod to the precision and care that define each plate. It’s a place where the food speaks for itself, and where the story of two grandmothers and two chefs continues to unfold.
