The story
In Keerbergen, chef Catherine and her husband Yves run a restaurant that keeps things refreshingly straightforward. At Maison Belge, the focus is on daily fresh produce served at a fair price. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a quiet nod to the quality and consistency of what comes out of the kitchen.
The menu is built around Modern French cuisine with clear Belgian roots. Starters range from a delicate snow crab with tomato salsa and hollandaise to a classic vitello tonnato. For mains, options include a piepkuiken with dragon and potato millefeuille, or a steak au poivre with fries and salad. Seafood lovers will find zeebaars with risotto and asparagus, or the classic paling in’t groen – eel in green sauce. The Côte à l’os Txogitxu for two is a serious meat option. Desserts stay on the same confident ground: a citroen-meringue tart, a chocolate chip cookie with pistachio and vanilla, or a simple dame blanche.
The setting matches the food. There is a spacious terrace where guests can dine surrounded by greenery in summer. Inside, a private room is available for parties and meetings, equipped with multimedia facilities. Parking is ample, making the restaurant easy to reach.
Maison Belge is open seven days a week, with the kitchen serving from 12:00 to 15:00 and 18:00 to 21:30, and from 18:00 on Saturdays. It is a place that earns its Michelin Recommended status through consistent, honest cooking – no fuss, just good ingredients handled with care.
