The story
In Knokke-Heist, Il Trionfo brings the warmth of Italy to the Belgian coast. The restaurant is a true family affair: mother and son command the kitchen, while father and daughter-in-law run the front of house. This sense of famiglia is the foundation of the experience, creating an atmosphere that is both elegant and genuinely welcoming.
The philosophy at Il Trionfo is one of uncompromising authenticity. Every ingredient that arrives in the kitchen—from the olive oil and cured meats to the pasta and wine—carries the D.O.P. (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) label. This guarantee of Italian origin means the flavours are as true to the source as possible. The kitchen’s dedication to this purity means they do not offer vegan dishes, as the core of the menu is built on traditional Italian produce.
The tasting menu, “I Gusti di Gusti,” is the chef’s personal expression of this Italian cuisine. It opens with classics like Vitello tonnato and Calamari fritti, followed by homemade pasta such as Tagliatelle dello chef with Black Angus ragout and Barolo. The menu changes with the week, and a lunch version is available at €45.
Il Trionfo’s commitment to quality has been consistently recognised. It has held a Michelin recommendation since 2012 and was named “Italian of the Year” by Gault&Millau in 2015. This is Italian dining driven by passion, not pretence.
