The story
In the quiet village of Oombergen, part of Leeuwergem, Les Abris brings together a cosy atmosphere and a deep respect for what the seasons offer. The restaurant’s philosophy is simple: let the ingredients speak, treat them with care, and surprise guests with thoughtful combinations. This approach earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a nod to its consistent, product-focused cooking.
The kitchen is led by chef Kristof Timmermans, who honed his craft at Michelin-starred restaurants Terborght in Beersel and Marcus in Deerlijk. He builds his modern cuisine around the natural character of each ingredient, creating dishes that balance texture, flavour, and seasonality. In the front of house, Tijs Coessens brings his experience as a sommelier, having worked at two-starred ’t Oud Konijntje in Waregem, Chateau Castigno in France, and Marcus*. Together, they aim to make every meal feel both personal and polished.
The dining room is designed to feel like a second home – unpretentious, light, and welcoming. With outdoor seating for warmer months and air conditioning for comfort, the space lets guests focus on the food and the company. The menu changes with the seasons, respecting the rhythm of local produce. Les Abris serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday, with lunch also available from Wednesday to Saturday. Whether you come for a special evening or a leisurely lunch, the team’s passion for gastronomy is evident in every detail.
